He might not be playing at the Australian Open in 2024 but that won't stop Nick Kyrgios from being in the spotlight.

The Aussie tennis star has become the latest face of subsciption giant OnlyFans.

Kyrgios is battling wrist and knee issues that have seen him play only one competitive match in the last 12 months - with an Australian Open appearance next year looking unlikely.

But that hasn't stopped the 28-year-old from advancing his career online with an OnlyFans page that will be free to access but require a subscription to view some content.

"Launching an OnlyFans was a no-brainer," Kyrgios said about his new social venture.

"They are revolutionising social media and I wanted to be a part of that. Athletes can no longer just show up on the court or the field, we have to show up online too.

"I want to create, produce, direct and own content. That’s the future.

"I’ve been speaking to my fans directly for years and I know what they want to see.

"Of course, there’ll be tennis balls involved, tips, tricks and behind the scenes, but also they’ll get to see all different sides of me.

"Gaming, tattoos, my intimate side – it’s all on the table and I’ll be bringing fans along for the ride!"

Only Fans CEO Keily Blair said: “A lot like OnlyFans, Nick is a disruptor, so it’s great to see him joining our platform, finding new ways to share his content and express himself."

Will Nick Kyrgios play Australian Open 2024?

It is looking increasingly unlikely Nick Kyrgios will play in the upcoming Australian Open, which commences on January 14, 2024.

He is not on the entry list for the tournament and it appears he is not fit enough to feature in the year's first grand slam tournament.

It is theoretically possible he could be awarded a wildcard into the main draw, although if he intends to play he likely would have used his protected ranking to enter.

The Australian hasn't played a professional tennis match since June, losing in straight sets to Wu Yibing at the Stuttgart Open.

He has struggled with wrist and knee injuries this season, with his last grand slam tournament match a quarter-final defeat to Karen Khachanov at the US Open in 2022.

Speaking in early December, Australian Open tournament boss Craig Tiley wouldn't commit to Kyrgios playing at Melbourne Park next year.

"The update is day-by-day with him," Tiley said.

"He'll be best to assess that ... we're going to have Nick here in some form or another in January.

"Hopefully it is to play because he's a crowd-pleaser. We love watching Nick and love having him around."

Tiley also emphasised the importance of preparing Kyrgios for a full season of tennis in 2024 and does not want to rush him back from injury.

"I think whatever gets him the best chance to progress during the year," he said.

"We have wildcard exchanges with the French and Wimbledon, so there’s an opportunity to really help an Australian player not just have one tournament to go into but several.

"So we’ll weigh that all up to make a decision – we’ve got wildcards to do that."

When is Australian Open 2024?

Australian Open 2024 will commence on Sunday, January 14 and become a 15-day event for the first time, finishing on Sunday, January 28.
