Melbourne Demons young star Clayton Oliver's off-season has gone from bad to worse, with the 26-year-old being charged by Victorian police for driving on a suspended license.

Oliver's license has been suspended on medical grounds since October 12 when he was hospitalized following a seizure, which he attributed in part to his ADHD medication.

But the Demons' midfielder was pulled over on November 16 and charged with driving on a suspended license, and will face court on January 9.

Clayton Oliver to face court as horror off-season continues

It's been a horror off-season for Oliver, which included significant trade speculation, as well as being hospitalised following a seizure, and now this latest charge.

In a statement, Melbourne said that they were aware of the latest incident, and confirmed it was related to Oliver's hospitalisation.

"Clayton advised the club immediately following an incident where Victoria Police stopped him for driving while his licence was suspended on medical grounds," the team said.

"This was in relation to the time he spent in the hospital following a seizure.

"As the matter is before the court, the club won't be making any further comment at this stage."

Oliver is contracted with the Demons until 2030, having signed a monster seven-year extension last year, thought to be worth over $1 million per year.
