The United States lost just one game at the 2023 World Juniors, but it was a crucial one, falling to Canada in the semifinals. The Americans had to settle for a bronze medal after defeating Sweden in the third-place game, but the country has its eyes on a better finish this time around.

The 2024 World Juniors is right around the corner, as the annual IIHF U20 tournament is set to begin right after Christmas Day. Team USA enters this year's competition as one of the favorites, looking to win gold for the first time since 2021.

There are seven returners from USA's bronze-medal winning squad last year, including Canadiens prospect and Hobey Baker finalist Lane Hutson, Flyers draft pick Cutter Gauthier and Blues prospect Jimmy Snuggerud. Gauthier and Snuggerud are two of 10 first-round NHL picks, which also include Will Smith (Sharks), Rutger McGroarty (Jets), Gabe Perreault (Rangers) and Ryan Leonard (Capitals).

If you're a Boston College, Minnesota or Michigan fan, those schools are well represented on USA's squad. There are seven Eagles on the World Juniors team, including the dominant forward line of Smith, Perreault and Leonard. In addition, there are four Golden Gophers and four Wolverines representing the red, white and blue in Sweden.

Unfortunately for American fans, there will be no Logan Cooley at the tournament. While the Coyotes forward is eligible to return to the 2024 tournament, he will remain in the NHL with Arizona.

Here is a look at the players that will represent Team USA for the 2024 World Juniors.

This year's World Juniors is being played outside North America for the first time since before COVID. Gothenburg, Sweden is the host site for the 2024 tournament.

The games in Gothenburg will be split between Scandinavium and Frolundaborg, two arenas in the city. Group A will play at Scandanavium, while Group B will be at Frolundaborg. The quarterfinals will be split between the two sites before Scandinavium hosts the semifinals and medal matches.

Gothenburg was supposed to host the 2022 World Juniors, however, the IIHF moved the site to Halifax, N.S. and Moncton, N.B. instead due to COVID. This is the first time Gothenburg will host the U20 competition, and seventh time the tournament is being held in Sweden.
