Chase Elliott leads field at Talladega

Talladega Superspeedway is a beautiful, dark, twisted nightmare.

It may not look the part; 'Dega is a beloved fixture of the NASCAR calendar. But beneath all the joy lies a menacing threat, one that can wreak havoc to a host of Cup Series contenders.

It's all in the dirty air. Ash and dust swirls across the atmosphere, making it all the more difficult to maneuver beyond opposition chariots. Passes require precision and patience. In the postseason, with the pressure mounting, those values can go by the wayside.

Who will be the last man standing? It's anyone's guess. But one thing is clear: there will be chaos. And it will be hard to look away.
