A new PPV event for All Elite Wrestling will honor one of the most iconic figures in pro wrestling history, Antonio Inoki. AEW presents WrestleDream, a collaboration with New Japan Pro Wrestling on October 1, which will mark the one-year anniversary of the Japanese hero's passing.

WrestleDream takes place at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle and airs on BR Live in the U.S. Outside the U.S., the show will be streamed on FITE and DAZN.

One of the first matches announced features two of the best technical wrestlers on the planet, Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr.

Danielson, returning from an injury at Forbidden Door 2023, stated on AEW Dynamite that he doesn't know how much time he has left in wrestling. He called out Sabre Jr., whom he was supposed to fight at Forbidden Door 2022. This will be the first time they will have faced off since 2008 when a young Sabre Jr. faced an established Danielson.

When Danielson retired after 2013, he won The Wrestling Observer's Best Technical Wrestler award nine times. Sabre Jr. would win the award seven times until Danielson's return to wrestling, where he won the award now named after him the last two years.

Another match on the card is “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland. Strickland called out Page after All In / All Out, belittling the former AEW World Champion. Page discussed going old school in this match, potentially bringing back his initial “Hangman” gimmick from Ring of Honor.
