At 24, Devin Haney has accomplished more than most in boxing. The undisputed lightweight champion, Haney is ready to add to his legacy. He's set to challenge Regis Prograis for the WBC super lightweight title.

The fight has landed on December 9 and airs on DAZN PPV in the U.S. Regarding the lightweight belts, Haney relinquished his status as undisputed champion to focus on super lightweight.

Prograis turned pro in 2012 and beat Luis Eduardo Florez in 2016 to win the NABF super lightweight title. "Rougarou" won the interim WBC super lightweight title in 2018 against Julius Indongo. Competing in the World Boxing Super Series super lightweight tournament, he beat Terry Flanagan and Kiryl Relikh (winning WBA gold) but failed to beat Josh Taylor in the finals for the IBF title.

Since then, he's gone 5-0, beating Jose Zepeda in 2022 for the WBC super lightweight title. Prograis' last bout was a split decision win in June against Danielito Zorrilla.

“Finally, we’re ready to go on Saturday, December 9 and I can’t wait to put on a show,” said Prograis. “I’ve already started training camp and I’ll be more than ready to do what I do best. Devin has done well at 135lbs but I’m the best in the world at 140lbs and I will prove that once again!

Haney has held gold since 2019 when he beat Zaur Abdullaev for the interim WBC lightweight belt. He fought George Kambosos Jr. in Australia in June 2022, beating the hometown hero to win the WBA, IBF, WBO, and Ring belts to become the undisputed champion.

A rematch clause forced Haney to fight Kambosos again, where he once again outpointed the Aussie. In his last bout, Haney edged Vasiliy Lomachenko to retain the belts.

“It’s been a long time coming,” said Haney. “It’s been a dream of mine to fight in my hometown. I’m excited for the opportunity to become two-division World champion in The City [The Bay] where it all started... Regis is going to be trying to knock me out and that’s exactly what I need him to be TRYING to do. This is what you do when you are the youngest promoter in boxing. I’m the real face of boxing. December 9. Legacy and Money."

Here's all you need to know about the anticipated 2023 showdown.
