This looks to be a two-horse race on paper between the top two runners in the market.

West Wind Blows ($3) couldn't have done much more in the Caulfield Cup, losing by a small margin to eventual Melbourne Cup winner Without A Fight, and had previously finished second in his Australian debut in early-October.

On the second line of betting is veteran gelding Zaaki ($4.80), who finished sixth in the Cox Plate last start and has won this race on two-straight occasions in 2021 and 2022.

Wider out is Duais ($7), who hasn't won a race for an extended period but was impressive while finishing fourth in the Cox Plate and third in the Caulfield Stakes against quality opposition.

Atishu ($7) and Prowess ($6.50) are also at single-figure odds, with the former bringing in a strong record from four starts over the 2000m journey, while the latter comes over from New Zealand with plenty of promise.

THE SPORTING NEWS' EXPERT TIP: Duais ($7)

11. C'est Magique (2) Michael Dee Grahame Begg $126

Champions Sprint form guide, tips and betting preview

Short-priced favourite Imperatriz ($2.05) has been in elite form throughout the spring, winning four races in a row including the G1 Manikato Stakes, and will be extremely hard to topple in this event.

Sitting on the second line of betting is Godolphin-trained mare In Secret ($4), who finished fourth in The Everest - a race the favourite didn't compete in - and is unbeaten down the Flemington straight.

Bella Nipotina ($12) must be respected against this field and will be coming off a quality victory in Sydney last weekend, while the Chris Waller-trained Espiona ($14) can't be overlooked after a solid Everest run.

At longer odds are straight-race sprint specialist Star Patrol ($14), with three victories and a placing from five starts at Flemington over this trip, as well as Everest runner Buenos Noches ($21).

THE SPORTING NEWS' EXPERT TIP: In Secret ($4.00)

Champions Mile form guide, tips and betting preview

There are three main chances in the field and it's no surprise to see Mr Brightside ($2.50) on top after an incredible spring carnival, with the six-year-old gelding looking to bounce back from a narrow Cox Plate defeat.

Another runner that looked tremendous in the Cox Plate is the Waterhouse-trained Alligator Blood ($3.60), finishing in third place after previously taking out the G1 Caulfield Stakes and G1 Underwood Stakes.

Fangirl ($3) is the only other runner at single-figure odds following an impressive victory in the G1 King Charles III last month and a solid performance when finishing seventh in the Cox Plate.

Wider in the market is last-start winner Pride Of Jenni ($15) and overseas raider Victoria Road ($23), with both horses drawing low gates in a small seven-horse field.

THE SPORTING NEWS' EXPERT TIP: Alligator Blood ($3.60)
