Since 1996, WWE has held events in India, with the last one taking place in 2017. Now, the company returns with its Superstar Spectacle event, which takes place at G. M. C. Balayogi Indoor Stadium on September 8.

The show will air on Sony Sports Network in India and the broadcasting rights are currently exclusive to the country.

In 2021, WWE produced the first Superstar Spectacle, with several wrestlers of Indian descent appearing. That event took place at the WWE Thunderdome due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

One star returning and performing in front of his fellow countrymen is Jinder Mahal. The former WWE Champion leads the Indus Sher (Sanga and Veer Mahaan) team. He discussed the significance of the event in 2021 and what it means to him.

"It's a great feeling. Before me, there was just The Great Khali. It was just us as really the only Indian representation. Just seeing everything grow; from the locker room, we got the addition of the Bollywood Boyz, and we had the largest tryout ever I believe, a year or two ago in India. A couple of them got to come to the Performance Center and train, they're living the dream,” Mahal said via Sportskeeda

“A lot of them, it was their debut match today, too. And seeing that, I can relate to how special that is because at one point in my career, now it seems a long time ago, that was me. So just being in the position now where I can give advice, I can almost mentor them and assure them to relax and have fun because when you're having fun, the WWE Universe is having fun, so that's what I got to say, it was awesome.”

Indus Sher faces Damian Priest and Finn Balor of The Judgement Day for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles. Also set to appear: Judgement Day's Rhea Ripley and John Cena.
