While the inaugural In-Season Tournament provided an exciting new wrinkle for NBA fans, bettors, teams, and players, every team's core objective remains the same: Win an NBA Championship. Just the same, the majority of bettors will be vastly more interested in betting on which franchise will raise the next championship banner than they probably ever will be in wagering on the NBA Cup. Below, we will unveil the updated BetMGM odds for the 2024 NBA Finals, a futures market that will remain available to the betting public all season long.

BetMGM, an authorized gaming partner of the NBA, provides some of the most competitive odds on futures like MVP, Rookie of the Year, and the Finals. Unlike some futures markets where bettors must get their bets in before the season begins, BetMGM's futures odds markets remain open year-round.

When it comes to betting on this season's eventual champion, the conversation cannot begin without mentioning the high-flying Celtics (+375), the busiest franchise of the summer in terms of acquisitions. Boston is hoping Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis wearing green translates to the 18th banner finally being hoisted in the TD Garden rafters.

Of course, we can't go much further without mentioning two-time MVP Nikola Jokic and the reigning-champion Nuggets (+425). Michael Malone's squad basically ran it back in the offseason after a dominating 2023 postseason run, but many would argue that Denver actually got better from an outside-shooting perspective. Joker and company will make for another fun watch throughout the season in their mile-high quest for a repeat title.

Fellow two-time MVP and NBA champion Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks (+450) might have something to say about Joker's chances. Now that the Greek Freak has teamed up with fellow offensive behemoth Damian Lillard, the sky could be the limit for Adrian Griffin's dynamic offense.

Speaking of dynamic offenses, the West has plenty of flair outside of the Rocky Mountains. Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and the Suns (+700) looked practically unstoppable when healthy in 2022-23, and Phoenix will be an unfavorable stop for whichever team draws the short straw and faces them in the playoffs.

Then there's the four powerhouse offenses from Cali, the 2022-champion Warriors (+1300), the 2020-champion Lakers (+1800), the 2022-breakout Kings (+6600), and the perennially-hopeful Clippers (+2200). Steph Curry has proven time and time again that the Dubs should never be taken lightly, while the Kings and Lakers demonstrated last season that, young or old, a team can make some serious noise in the postseason if it gets hot at the right time.

That's great news for hot young squads like the Timberwolves (+2500), Thunder (+6600), Pelicans (+5000), and Pacers (+20000). It's also great news for the older rosters like reigning MVP Joel Embiid and the 76ers (+1400), the defending Eastern Conference-champion Heat (+4000), and the ever-feisty Mavericks (+2500), Cavaliers (+2500), and Knicks (+5000). Any team that continues to improve and evolve throughout the season (on and off the floor) has a shot at making a run at the chip.

As that last sentiment might suggest, the 2024 NBA Finals odds will obviously fluctuate throughout the year. So, if bettors are keen on how and why this market moves, they can extract value if and when opportunity presents itself. An unfortunate injury that sidelines an impact player for some time, a drop in performance by a key cog of a team's system, or a seismic trade could all lead to a decrease in one team's NBA Finals odds.

On the other hand, a star player going on a heater, a team rattling off a big winning streak, or even just a squad mounting a big upset on national TV can all boost a team's odds of hoisting the next Larry O'Brien Trophy. The name of the game when betting on futures is value, so timing can be just as important as it is when live betting. This column will make it easier for you to continually monitor the odds, trends, and movement all season long so you can make educated, high-value bets.
