Australian super lightweight contender Liam Paro (23-0) will return to action against Montana Love (18-1-1) in San Francisco on December 9 (Dec. 10 in Australia).

The card will be headlined by the WBC super lightweight title bout between Devin Haney and champion Regis Prograis.

It's Paro's first fight since he knocked Brock Jarvis out in the first round in the main event of powerhouse promoter Matchroom Boxing's Australian debut just over a year ago.

The undefeated Queenslander was booked to challenge for Prograis' WBC belt back in June before he was forced to withdraw due to an Achilles issue.

It continued a frustrating run for the 27-year-old, who earlier in the year pulled out of a fight with Robbie Davies Jnr in the UK after suffering a facial fracture in training.

A win over Love will put Paro right back in the mix for a world title shot.

For Cleveland's Love, it will be his second straight fight against an Australian following his controversial scrap with Stevie Spark earlier this year.

Love was heavily favoured going into that bout but hit the canvas in the second round and eventually lost his cool, extraordinarily throwing Spark out of the ring and getting disqualified.

Paro won't be the only other Australian on the card in San Francisco, with IBF bantamweight champion Ebanie Bridges defending her title against compatriot Avril Mathie.

Bridges hasn't fought since her knockout victory over countrywoman Shannon O'Connell last December.
