Ryan Garcia returns to action for the first time since being knocked out by Gervonta Davis when he faces the tough Oscar Duarte on December 2. The fight will take place at the Toyota Center in Houston and will air on DAZN worldwide.
The 25-year-old Garcia had his unbeaten streak snapped by Davis in an April super fight. The young hotshot was dropped twice in the bout and counted out by the referee in Round 7.
“KingRy” now begins his comeback, and if he wants to fight for gold, he must get past Duarte.
While not looking past this next opponent, promoter Oscar De La Hoya has big plans in place should his fighter dispatch the hard-hitting Mexican.
“We’re looking to do a major, major fight with Ryan, possibly around Super Bowl weekend,” De La Hoya said via MMA Junkie. “I would love to talk to Bob [Arum] to see what’s going on with him and Teofimo [Lopez], but there’s other options as well.”
Per Sports Interaction, Duarte is the +350 underdog, while Garcia is a massive -450 favorite. That won’t stop him from attempting to create his own path to glory at the lightweight level.
But despite the odds, Duarte, 27, is on an 11-fight win streak (all knockouts), and he's confident in his own ability.

“I always liked big challenges. Ryan has done good things, and that’s why he is where he is,” Duarte told Golden Boy via Boxing News 24. “I know I have done good things as well, and I deserve the big challenges to show who I am. Yes, he is very fast and has power in both hands, so the fans will enjoy this fight.”
