During the process of developing these learning resources, TVO and the NBA focused on the emphasis on transferable skills, as identified by Ontario's Ministry of Education.

Among the seven categories of skills these resources will focus on are critical thinking and problem solving, innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, self-directed learning, collaboration, communication, global citizenship and sustainability, and digital literacy.

With a focus on these skills, young students will be able to adapt and succeed as the world of work continues to evolve. TVO and the NBA developed fun and engaging learning activities that are rooted in students' love and excitement for basketball.

“We are delighted to partner with the NBA in Canada to launch these basketball-themed learning activities that build on the Ministry of Education’s guidance for skills students need to thrive in the future workforce,” said Jennifer Hinshelwood, COO of TVO.

“Technology is rapidly advancing, and students are facing the realities of AI and robotic technology being their future colleagues. Transferable skills are critical to ensure our young people can be successful and ensure Ontario’s current position as a leader in the global economy.”

Educators will be able to use these learning modules in the classroom as transitional activities between regular classroom content while caregivers and families can also access the modules to aid in the learning of grade school students.

Over the next six months, learning modules will be released on TVO Learn. Ahead of each module's release, TVO's social media channels will engage with followers by teasing the theme of the skills with an NBA-branded mascot naming poll. After a week of voting, the winning name will be revealed along with an open-access link to the next module.

Interested educators, students and caregivers can find the activities at TVOlearn.com/nba and through TVO social channels.
