Detroit Pistons fans are starting to wonder if their team will ever win again. And now, at DraftKings, they can actually bet on it.

DraftKings is offering odds on a “next regular season win” market for the team stuck in an NBA record 27-game losing streak. It began offering the market when the Pistons had lost just 24 in a row.

The bets now range from the Toronto Raptors on Saturday (+180 odds) to not at all in 2023-24 (+30000, down from +100000 at open). Yes, you can bet on the Pistons not winning another game this season and finishing the year on a 79-game losing streak.

DraftKings' odds on when Pistons end losing streak

Finding the market on the DraftKings Sportsbook app did require searching for "Pistons". It has 12 options to bet on the Pistons' next regular-season win, and there's even a friendly reminder of the team’s last win, which came on Oct. 28.

That win against the Bulls put the Pistons at 2-1, a promising start for a young team in the middle of a rebuild. Then the wheels fell off.

Now, you get to bet on whether those wheels will ever get put back on.

Here are the available bets in DraftKings’ next Pistons regular season win market:

  • Vs. Toronto Raptors (Dec. 30): +180
  • At Utah Jazz (Jan. 3): +450
  • Vs. San Antonio Spurs (Jan. 10): +700
  • Vs. Minnesota Timberwolves (Jan. 17) or later: +700
  • At Houston Rockets (Jan. 1): +700
  • At Golden State Warriors (Jan. 5): +900

Betting on Pistons' next win is a difficult proposition

Picking the right game in this market is tricky. You not only have to find a team the Pistons could beat, but also make sure they don’t win a game prior to that happening.

The teams that jump out immediately are the Wizards and Spurs, who themselves have won just five and four games, respectively, this season. But they don’t play the Spurs until Jan. 10, meaning the losing streak would have to get to 34 in order for your bet to be alive heading into the game.

If you pick the game against the Wizards, the Pistons would have to lose nine more games, running their losing streak to 36.

Making those bets is basically betting an eight- or 10-leg parlay.

When originally looking at this market, we chose the Raptors on Saturday (then at +700) odds, and that still feels like the spot.

Up next is a trip to Boston, and even though it's the next game on the schedule, it carries +1200 odds in this market for a reason. I suppose we are still in a season known for miracles, and that feels like what it would take in order for the Pistons to knock off the Celtics.

Toronto has struggled of late, dropping 10 of their last 13, and three straight since we originally wrote this piece. Saturday's game will also be the back-half of a back-to-back. The Raptors play in Boston the night before traveling to Little Caesars Arena.

Pick: vs. Toronto Raptors (Dec. 30): +180

Could the Pistons be the worst NBA team ever?

The Pistons have already set the record for consecutive losses, so their claim to "worst NBA team ever" is off to quite a start.

At 2-28, they are also on pace to have the worst record in an 82-game NBA season. Their current .067 win percentage would equal a 5-77 final record, which easily breaks the record of 9-73 set by the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers.

Sportsbooks don’t think the Pistons will set that mark, as their win total is . DraftKings is offering a total at 9.5, with the OVER at -320.

But if you think this team could set a new record for futility, betting the UNDER could pay dividends, especially for a Pistons fan suffering through it.
