Retiring Australian cricket star David Warner has revealed his Baggy Green cap has been returned after it went missing prior to the Sydney Test against Pakistan.

Warner's prized possession was lost after his backpack vanished while on transit with Qantas from Melbourne to Sydney.

However, the 37-year-old revealed the discovery of his cap via social media on Friday morning.

Warner finds his lost Baggy Green cap

While Warner didn't reveal how the Baggy Green was lost or how it was recovered, the veteran opener thanked those involved in its discovery.

“Hi everyone, I am pleased and relieved that I have got my baggy back in my hands,” Warner said via Instagram.

“Any cricketer knows how special that cap is and I’ll cherish this for the rest of my life.

“I’m very grateful to all those involved in locating it, the Qantas team, the freight company, the hotel and our own team management.

“It’s a load off my shoulders going into the last couple of days so I really appreciate it. Thank you all.”

Warner had been distraught when the Baggy Green initially went missing, posting a plea on social media for its return.

"Hi all, this is my last resort, but my backpack, which contained my Baggy Green, has been taken from my luggage, which was transported to Melbourne Airport and flown on Qantas to Sydney a few days ago," he wrote to his 10.7 million followers.

"Qantas have said they checked their cameras and have not seen anyone open our bags and take the backpack, however, they do have blind spots.

"If you are the person, who was either working for the company driving it to and from the airport or working for Qantas and have, by chance, just wanted the backpack, I have one for [you].

"I would be grateful if this were returned ASAP. Thanks."
