If you've watched any of March Madness so far in 2023, then you have certainly seen the latest in the line of Chris Paul's State Farm commercials.

The ad has been as omnipresent in the 2023 NCAA Tournament as the dreaded "Orange Vanilla Coke" commercials were back in the 2019 iteration of the tournament.

Per usual, Paul and Jake, from State Farm — played by Kevin Miles — are the main characters in the commercial. They are having a casual conversation about insurance (naturally) while Paul is walking to shootaround.

Paul then greets a very tall player — Boban Marjanovic — as he is coming off the court and heading into the locker room. Paul then ponders, "What if he's not actually 7-4?"

It is then revealed that Marjanovic isn't just one person, but is actually three kids stacked on top of one another in a "Little Rascals" or Vincent Adultman-esque manner.

The commercial surely will elicit chuckles from basketball fans, but those less up to speed with the NBA may find themselves wondering who plays the tall player in the skit.

Here's everything you need to know about State Farm's "What If Not Tall?" ad.

Who is the tall guy in State Farm commercial?

The tall guy in the "What If Not Tall?" State Farm commercial is Boban Marjanovic.

Marjanovic is an NBA center who has made a secondary career out of appearing in commercials. He has appeared in several State Farm commercials — including the company's "Reach Anything" ad — and also did a spot for Goldfish with his good friend and former teammate, Tobias Harris.

Marjanovic's on-screen appearances are not just limited to commercials, however. He has appeared in movies and TV shows as well. Two of those — "We Will Be The World Champions" and "Državni posao" — were in his native Serbia. But American audiences may recognize Marjanovic from his appearance as Ernest in "John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum" or from his cameo in Adam Sandler and LeBron James' "Hustle."

Who is Boban Marjanovic?

Boban Marjanovic is a 34-year-old center who is in his eighth NBA season. He began his career with the Spurs back in the 2015-16 season after signing a one-year contract with the Spurs.

The Serbian-born Marjanovic quickly became a fan favorite due to his size, and he was able to average 5.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game despite averaging just 9.4 minutes on the floor. That led the Pistons to sign him to a three-year, $21 million offer sheet that the Spurs declined to match.

Marjanovic didn't carve out as big a role in Detroit as the Pistons had hoped, and he lasted just a season and a half there before joining the Clippers. Since then, he has bounced around to the 76ers, the Mavericks and the Rockets, for whom he now plays. He is on his sixth team in eight seasons.

Despite his lacking playing time — he has averaged more than 10 minutes per game just once during his NBA career — Marjanovic has been noted as a good locker-room presence and that has allowed him to stick around. He still is capable of stuffing the stat sheet as well, and he once scored 31 points with 17 rebounds in a start for the Mavericks on eve of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Below is a look at Marjanovic's per-game stats over the course of his eight-year NBA career.

Boban Marjanovic height

Marjanovic is listed at 7-4 on the NBA's official website. He is listed by some other publications — notably Basketball Reference — at 7-3, but given that Paul says 7-4 when discussing Marjanovic's height in the commercial spot, it's fair to assume that the NBA has the measurement right.

Who is the NBA's tallest player?

Marjanovic is the tallest active player in the NBA today at 7-4. However, he is only the 10th-tallest player to ever play in the league.

Gheorghe Muresan was 7-7 when he played for the Bullets and the Nets from 1993 to 2000. So too was Manute Bol during his time with the Bullets, Warriors, 76ers and Heat.

Several 7-6 and 7-5 players saw action during their NBA careers, though Marjanovic has appeared in more games than most of them.

Below is a list of the tallest players in NBA history, from Bol and Muresan to Marjanovic.
