While no titles are on the line at Bellator 293, two fights could determine which contenders will vie for gold in the future. Marcelo Golm and Daniel James face off at heavyweight, while Cat Zingano faces Leah McCourt in a featherweight clash at the Pechanga Resort and Casino Theater in California on March 31.

Golm, ranked fifth in the Bellator heavyweight rankings, turned pro in 2015. Going 1-3 in the UFC, he has since won four in a row, including two in Bellator. The 30-year-old last fought in July, beating Davion Franklin via submission.

The 41-year-old James turned pro in 2014 and competed at Bellator. He wouldn't fight again for the organization until his last bout, in November, when he beat Tyrell Fortune via TKO. James is on a four-fight win streak, all of which have come via knockout.

Zingano is a former Ring of Fire bantamweight and flyweight champion and has beaten the likes of Raquel Pennington, Miesha Tate, and Amanda Nunes. However, she lost to Ronda Rousey in 2015 for the UFC bantamweight title in just 14 seconds. Since that setback, Zingano has gone 4-3 and is on a three-fight win streak with Bellator.

With a win, Zingano hopes to face Bellator featherweight champion Cris Cyborg, who insists that Zingano is ducking her. The two have gone back and forth verbally, with Zingano requesting independent drug testing for both if a fight happens.

In her path is McCourt, who is looking to become a contender herself. Ranked eighth in the featherweight rankings (Zingano number one), McCourt is 6-1 in Bellator and 1-1 in her last two fights. Primarily fighting in Dublin, McCourt last fought in September, when she beat Dayana Silva.
