When the Professional Fighters League leaves the Hulu Theater in New York on August 23, there will be a clear idea of who will compete in the PFL Finals and the chance to win $1 million. First, the lightweights and welterweights must finish things off in the playoffs.

PFL 9 airs on ESPN+ in the U.S. and DAZN in the U.K. The main event sees Clay Collard face Shane Burgos.

A boxer, Collard beat Yamato Nishikawa and Stevie Ray to advance. With a 9-6-3 record in the boxing ring, his seamless transition to MMA, especially in the PFL, has increased his confidence.

Collard has called the fight against Burgos, who replaced Natan Schulte, “easy money.” A former UFC standout, Burgos believes he can go toe-to-toe with him.

“It’s cute. It’s funny, he’s trying to build the fight up,” Burgos said to Middle Easy. “Obviously, he knows that’s not easy money. He has some really good wins on his record, but I’m not gonna... I wouldn’t call any of those big wins easy money. I only have four losses, and if you ask any of those four guys that beat me, I don’t think any of them would say I’m easy money.

“I don’t really put too much stock, honestly, [on] what my opponents think or what my opponents wanna do. I could give a f--- less, I could not care less. I don’t lose any sleep thinking about what they think or what they said. I truly could not give a f--- what anyone thinks or says.”

In other lightweight action, Olivier Aubin-Mercier faces Bruno Miranda.

Sadibou Sy, the 2022 welterweight tournament winner, faces Carlos Leal, who lost to Sy in 2022.

Magomed Magomedkerimov faces Solomon Renfro in the other welterweight semi-final fight.
