Alex de Minaur has become the first Australian to be ranked in the top 10 since 2006 after his extraordinary performances at the United Cup.

While the 24-year-old's exact ranking is unknown and will be calculated in the days to come, he is guaranteed to be in the top 10 ahead of the Australian Open.

De Minaur is the first Aussie to reach this milestone since his United Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt did in 2006.

However, it should be noted Nick Kyrgios would have been ranked top 10 in the last 12 months if the rankings points from his Wimbledon 2022 final counted.

What is Alex de Minaur's tennis ranking?

De Minaur's official current tennis ranking is 12, but he will be ranked in the top 10 once the rankings are released in the coming days.

The Australian star has catapulted himself to the career-high based on his form at the 2024 United Cup, where he defeated three top-10 players in Novak Djokovic (no.1), Alexander Zverev (no.7) and Taylor Fritz (no.10).

De Minaur will be targeting at least a fourth-round performance at the Australian Open to retain the ranking points he secured at Melbourne Park in 2023.
